Summary of recent films I’ve watched

These aren’t recent films, but ones I’ve seen on DVD in the past week.

Firstly Brotherhood Of The Wolf, a French film which I didn’t know anything about before I watched it- but it was surprisingly very good. Cinematography was great and some of the acting was superb, even if some bits were predictable.

I also watched Spinal Tap, a film I first watched years ago but wanted to see again. The stonehenge scene has to be one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen (the youtube video doesn’t do it justice- you really have to watch it in the context of the film).

Finally, I watched Marathon Man last night. A really, really good thriller (the torture scene was excruciating to watch), I though Hoffman was superb. Highly recommended.

Springsteen’s ‘The Promise’ reviewed

Seeing as I reviewed ‘Darkness On The Edge Of Town’ recently, I thought I’d review ‘The Promise’, an album containing the outtakes from this album. I think it’s one of the longest I’ve written, due in part to it being a double album (although that’s not to say I didn’t enjoy it!). You can read it here.

This for me has to be my favourite Bruce Springsteen album, and I think it is a shame that he did not release a live album for this tour, as his shows from 1978 (as heard through the magic of bootlegging) are absolutely superb.

U2′s ‘Achtung Baby’ reviewed

New site design- an explanation

Hopefully, this will be the first of many posts on this blog. I’ve just finished of the new design for the site, and thought I’d give a brief explanation of my decision processes.

I’ve always liked dark designs, so have picked a colour scheme accordingly. The compartmentalised design of the content is another thing I have seen implemented on other sites, so have added this.

Whilst I am perfectly capable of coding myself, I have chosen to use WordPress because it allows the blog and site to be easily run and integrated, and it is unrivalled in its quality.
